I began this program in a bad way. My back was in pieces, I was in pain, my posture was rounded, I felt a good ten years older than I should have done and, what's more, I hadn't exercised in years! I was pleasantly surprised at the gradual progression of my Personal Training Program which allowed me to make quick progress in a short period of time. With a few minor adjustments that Simon instructed me on I couldn't quite believe that I was walking taller, with less back pain, in a matter of weeks!' Steve, Richmond, 41
''I completely support this Personal Training Program. It has taken me from an unfit, overweight executive to a fitter, trimmer, regularly exercising executive with an ever shrinking gut! I began this Program topping the scales at 18 stone 3. Within 12 weeks of effective exercise, improved nutrition and lifestyle change I am down 6 inches on my waist and 2 minutes up on my best time for 2000m on the rowing machine!' Simon, Twickenham, 48
'I have always found exercise hard, boring and unrewarding in terms of results and progression. When I started this Personal Training Program I was expecting to go through the motions and just get on with it rather than getting any real enjoyment out of the sessions. Now that I am well into the course of my Program I can actually say that Simon did a very good job of making sessions varied, challenging and, dare I say it - interesting! For the first time I could actually understand the reasoning behind the exercise that I was doing! Thank you Simon.' Heather, Walton-upon-Thames, 54
'When Simon first told me that my Personal Training sessions would be built around total body movements rather than focusing on individual muscles, I wasn't really sure what he mean't. Having sweated my way through ten sessions so far I now understand completely! I am effectively working my body while saving time, burning more fat and actually seeing results all over.'
David, Esher, 46
Yes, I tried out the new body weight circuits - they are tough! I have enjoyed
doing them - while I end up feeling exhausted at the end (perhaps more exhausted than when I'm on the machines), it does feel like a different sort of exhaustion from doing the bike or the rower. My arms really felt it too... The other circuits are going well and it does help keep the interest level up by having different exercises to do at different sessions. Andy, Kew, 35
In terms of exercise I have enjoyed the home intervals and it really does help when I plan to go to the gym and cannot make it which was the case yesterday when my son was unwell. I have pushed myself with the intervals. However I have had no problems with recovery and whilst I know that I have exercised, I have not been a 'creaking gate'! I am enjoying my Personal Training very much.
Laura, Guildford, 40
You'll be pleased to hear that I got round Bushy Park for this morning's run with no mishaps... it was more of a walk and run to get the distance done and I comfortably finished 8km, all be it slowly... all felt fine and could have done more!. James, Teddington, 41
Thanks for your message and words of encouragement. Not doing too badly this week: gym wise, did full session on Thursday, intervals on Friday, and full sessions Tuesday and Wednesday. Certainly getting the hang of the weights - don't feel that its time to move up just yet....am feeling those 10KG ones for sure! .certainly been feeling 'lighter', and trousers feeling slightly looser too. Continue to feel really energised - most of the time at least! .the gym sessions mean I sleep really well! Dave, Guildford, 36
Exercise wise I have done 3 cardio interval sessions with 2 of them preceded by strength training. I have been in the pool once and done 2 body balance classes which I love. I am managing front and side planks for a minute at a time which I know is better than last week, so onwards and upwards and looking forward to seeing you next week! Sue, Esher, 41
I am very encouraged by the results from the first 3 weeks and am determined
to keep going - as well as not to put it all back on over the next week. I've packed my skipping rope - just need to use it now! Peter, Guildford, 44
Thanks Simon and thanks for the measurements - what a result! ...have already started on the new exercises - I must admit I do like doing the cardio stuff ...and... find it more motivational to intersperse the core stuff with more jumping around. Selina, Stoke D'Abernon, 43
Thanks for this and for the words of encouragement! Will continue with rowing, exercising and eating properly in the meantime. I now have the blood pressure and pulse of a woman half my age, so hey positives all round!
Marie, Ascot, 42
I really do feel progression from where I was when we started. I do see that I need to really keep up the stability stuff in-between our sessions so we can do more challenging stuff together, which would be good. I really appreciate your patience too...! Jenny, Byfleet, 38
I tried out the 10 minute workout that you had posted on the blog a few weeks ago, it was great, a challenge but great. I've also started getting my son doing counter top press ups... He thought they were easy until I pointed out that it was as much about body position as doing, so I think he has more respect for his old Mum now!!!!! Morag, Byfleet, 43
