'Learning the Basics of Nutrition was pretty easy to understand. I realised that a
lot of it was common sense, but until someone else sets it out in stone you don't always pay attention. I started taking my supplements, pinned the Commandments to my fridge as advised, and every time I go near the fridge or the cupboard I can hear Simon's voice asking 'what are you doing!?' Jenny, 36
'Until I started the Strive for 5 Plan my diet and lifestyle were terrible. OK, I'm still no angel, but I've tried to stick to the advice given. I can honestly say that things have made much more sense. Cutting down on bread has made me less bloated, drinking more water has cleared my complexion up and I no longer fall asleep at my desk after lunch in the afternoon! I'm still working on the alcohol though.' Sarah, 32
'Cutting out coffee was hard - I love my coffee! I started replacing every other cup with green tea or a cold drink, and tried not to touch coffee after mid afternoon. I slept better at night, which pushed me to cut it down to just 2 cups in the morning. I didn't get any headaches or side effects because I cut it out slowly. Now I can enjoy one cup of coffee in the morning and it feels like a treat again!' Hannah, 46
'I have to say I feel cleansed. Cutting the junk out of my diet has made me feel sane for the first time in ages. I used to come home and grab whatever fell out of the kitchen cupboards - I was ravenous! Now I don't get any cravings for sugar or salt and I can actually go for a few hours without feeling the desperate need to eat.' Phil, 41
'. Don't get me wrong, I still drink alcohol. The difference is that I know when to stop now. I'll have a glass with an evening meal but I always drink plenty of water each day to stay well hydrated. I've worked hard on my fitness and I can see that I get better results when I cut the alcohol down. I guess drinking was a habit' John, 48
'Once you start reading each stage of this Program you realise how easy it is to understand the basics of nutrition. Following the advice given has been hard at times, with travelling and eating out, but I now know what I should be eating, when and how much. The extra tips in this section have really helped me keep a good grip on my eating habits. I've lost over a stone since I started this Program!' Peter, 53
I haven't managed to get the chocolate milk just yet, but am grabbing a handful of nuts on the way home with plenty of water, which staves off the pangs of hunger until dinner. Andy, 34
Eating wise - all going well during the week. It's the weekend that is hard. I was given last minute tickets to the rugby on Saturday, then met up with friends for a drink afterwards. Ended up in the curry house - but have managed to change my habits there so that I have a mixed grill (rather than 'saucy' curry) and rice OR bread rather than both from my 'previous life'. I just need to make sure that, as you say, the day afterwards I am fully back on track. So far I do seem to manage that. John, 43
Thanks for the supportive email! . the meal plan has helped thank you. Sue, 41
I've really enjoyed this week and got a lot out of it. Thanks for the eating plan. Much appreciated. Celia, 43
