The great Fat Loss Race is a bit like the one that the hare and the tortoise
entered. I'm sure you're all familiar with the story of the tortoise and the hare.
The hare continually boasted of his speed, reminding the tortoise of his own shortcomings as a 'slow coach'. One day he challenged the tortoise to a race and surprisingly the tortoise said yes. Even more surprisingly, the tortoise ended up winning, by simply taking his time.
' Slowly does it every time! ' the tortoise exclaimed as his rival crossed the finishing line in second place. The same could be said of successful fat loss. Take your time, stick to the correct eating and the right intensity of exercise and you will cross the finishing line. It may take longer than you might like, but you will get there.
If you're anything like the hare, you're probably wearing the ass out of the treadmill, the X-Trainer or even the pavement, determined to shed that excess fat in record time with constant bouts of cardio. MORE is not always BEST. Don't let fat loss turn into a daily obsession with sweating!
I'd rather you worked hard 3-4 times a week, put the effort in and then relaxed, shifting your excess focus to your daily diet, rather than clambering onto your favourite piece of cardio kit each and every day believing that sweat = fat loss.
Remember - you don't improve while exercising - you improve while recovering from exercise, as you rest. Fat loss happens between sessions, once your metabolism is flying, NOT while you are exercising.
Don't end up like the hare, racing ahead impatiently, only to end up burnt out. Take a leaf out of the tortoise's book and give yourself time to achieve.
