Good Health = Mental Attitude

'There is no point at which you can say, "Well, I 'm successful now.
I might as well take a nap."'

Carrie Fisher

Success is something we've all experienced. Some are born lucky, finding success at every turn. Others work hard to achieve it. Some strive to succeed but feel they never quite make it.

The truth is we all achieve success during our lives.
Some of us just fail to recognise it...

Success means different things to different people. To one man it might mean owning a new sports car. To another woman it might mean a big promotion at work. We are all different. We all have different goals that stimulate us enough to take action.

More often than not, achieving a goal isn't always what it's cracked up to be. Don't get me wrong. I 'm not saying that striving for something isn't a good thing. Far from it! It's just that certain things never quite measure up to our expectations.

Stay with me on this one for now. All will become clear in just a minute...

Let's go back to the new sports car. The day that man buys his dream car he jumps into the driver's seat, feels the steering wheel in his hands and thinks - 'Yes! I 've made it!' He feels a sense of pride as he shows it off to all his friends. He polishes it to within an inch of its life and looks for any excuse to nip out for a quick drive. He seems blissfully happy. Good for him!

A year on and it's a different story. He may be driving a 'nice' car but life's moved on. A new model is out, depreciation and a little 'wear and tear' have hit the car's resale value, and he's now preoccupied with work. Now he's saving for that new Plasma TV he saw on a business trip to Hong Kong. He's long forgotten that feeling the car gave him a year ago. There's a new goal on the horizon and in his mind, until it's attained, he won't feel successful.

We live in a throwaway society fuelled by instant gratification. We see something we want and we want it now. Once we have it, we want something else. Keeping us satisfied is a full-time job! This doesn't just go for material possessions. It goes for the simpler things in life too.

As a student you became qualified in your chosen profession. Now you fancy a career change or a family. Maybe you have children and you want more. There's nothing wrong with either of these aspirations. They are perfectly healthy choices.

The point I am trying to make is that success is an ever changing set of goalposts. We achieve a certain goal and then, before we know it, we are looking for that next level to take success to. We never seem to rest in our pursuit.

Fitness Success is different.

With fitness there IS an end goal - better health, vitality and strength to enjoy life to the full. There is no greater 'success' in that field. In striving for fitness, 'success' can come relatively quickly, and once attained it can stay with you for a lifetime, without the need to aspire to higher things. Yes, there are goals to attain along the way, but with a little dedication, a lifelong sense of satisfaction is yours.

Like the car, it simply requires a little 'polishing'.

Unlike
the car, with improved health and vitality you are buying into something that can last you forever.
