No Looking Back...
Since that day I haven't looked back, except to see how far I have come. Over
the
years my body has changed beyond recognition, as well as my health, my
confidence and my outlook on life. I may not be a 20 stone Hercules, but the body I see now is sculpted, toned and athletic looking. I feel like the glove is on the other hand today. Friends from school who were once the holders of medals, cups and team ties now respect the commitment and hard work that have gone into my own physical transformation. More importantly, I am proud of my own dedication and progress.
Believe me, I'm not trying to blow my own trumpet here. Far from it. Although I am proud of what I have achieved, I am recounting my own experiences to prove just one point to you.
It is NEVER too late to make a decision to change.
Where are YOU Right Now?
YOU are possibly where I once was. Maybe you are several steps ahead. After all, until about 10 years ago I hadn't even set foot in a gym! Most people these days have at least done that. Maybe you were once part of the sporting crowd
at school that outshone me! You could be destined to relive some of that sporting history and you don't even know it yet!
OK, I'm not about to preach to you and tell you that you'll enjoy exercise if only you gave it a chance. I know from personal experience how hard it can be to come round to that way of thinking. But exercise doesn't have to take over your life. As a late convert I have renewed energy and really enjoy the time I give to exercise each day. Right now you may detest the very thought of it. That's fine.
I DO understand - After all, I've been there myself.
I want to level with you.
Unless your mind is open to change, you will not get far with exercise. There needs to be a defining moment that makes you think 'I WANT to do this' - such
as deciding to follow this Program. If you drag your heels and enter into this course of change with a heavy heart and a sense of negativity you are likely to fail. After all, who sticks with something they don't enjoy? In developing this Program I did a great deal of research into the relationship between body and mind, and how the two are closely linked when it comes to making change.
Every self-help book I had read talked about WHY you should exercise, the health benefits, the risks if you didn't, and the fact that all you had to do was get out there and start. We all know we should be doing more exercise, but getting started is the whole problem. If someone telling us we should exercise was all it took, the whole country would be exercising today!
Exercise and good health are a personal thing.
It's easy to put exercise to the back of your mind and forget about it. Our stressful lives have led us to retreat from any form of exertion because we convince ourselves that we are just too knackered at the end of the day to get out there and be active. That notion is the very thought that stops you from getting started. Instead you need to realise that a little exercise will actually increase your energy levels and make you feel 100% better, even in the short term.
You see, you have to want to do it to make it happen. No one can make that change except you. People like me can plant the seed in your mind, but at the end of the day it's YOU that must nurture this thought and make it grow into something meaningful and effective. YOU need to discover for yourself the personal benefits that a healthy lifestyle can bring. ONLY when you experience this first-hand will you be eligible to decide.
Getting started is the key to your success. By beginning the Strive for 5 Plan
you are in the ideal position to make lasting change. You have support, guidance and motivation at your fingertips, AND a credible reason for starting now - the promise of a new YOU in just 12 weeks! Focus on the mental aspect before you focus on changing the physical. Otherwise you will find the going tough.
Like any journey, the sooner you begin,
the sooner you will reach your destination.
