Simon Dainton - Guildford Personal Trainer
Head Coach at Fitstreet Personal Training
Hi, I'm Simon Dainton, Founder of Fitstreet Personal Training and creator of the FIT4 programme.
I'm a Certified Fitness Coach, based in Guildford in the UK. My career is built on helping everyday men and women improve their lives by achieving better health and maintaining it for the long term.
What is my approach to training?
I believe that exercise is all about moderation. The degree to which it fills your life will vary. I DON’T believe
in the 'Sergeant Major' type approach, barking orders and reminding you of your physical failures. That’s
not
my style. It doesn’t work for me and it doesn’t work for my Guildford clients.
My story demonstrates the
understanding I have for those of you who
find it hard to start exercising, but
I DO believe in
training with good humour, patience, professionalism and empathy. While you will work
hard, sessions will be enjoyable and physically rewarding, but more importantly they will be short.
What is my training philosophy?
For several years I have studied what is happening in the fitness industry and have come to the conclusion that the majority
of people looking for a Personal Trainer just don't have the time they believe
is required to get into shape and maintain their efforts.
Some Trainers would have you believe that to lose weight and shed fat you would need an extensive programme of gym
visits, endless cardio on home or gym equipment and at least
6 months worth of
training to really see results.
Most of the men and women that I have trained agree that they just don't have that kind of time or money
to invest, when
other areas of their lives are so busy and demanding.
Unfortunately for you, taking on the 'typical' Personal Training Programme turns out to be a huge financial investment with
no guarantee
that
it will actually work for you.
My programmes of 'Lifestyle Change' guarantee clients results in as little as 4 weeks, by combining
effective exercise,
nutrition and lifestyle adjustments. There is NO boring
cardio involved, no HOUR
long gym visits and no fad dieting required
in an attempt to make you 'slim'.
Yes, you will work hard - there is no question of that, and yes you will have to tailor your eating according
to my guidelines
to see and feel results. But the beauty of my training programmes is that they are short, effective at burning fat fast, and designed in such a way that you will constantly be able to gauge your progression and increased fitness in the space of
just 4 weeks.
How Do I Stay in Shape?
I keep things simple. I train with dumbbells, kettlebells and my own bodyweight.
95% of the time I exercise
at home - without a gym - but I still work hard and remain lean year-round.
When the weather's good I
swim and kayak. I also walk my dog twice a day which is an added bonus!
When it comes to traditional 'exercise' I do no more than 30 minutes a day, and that still taxes me, provided
I work at the right intensity. Spending upwards of an hour in the gym just doesn't interest me
any more,
since my goal is to simply remain fit, strong and healthy. Long gone are the days when I had
the time to devote to a full gym workout!
At school I was skinny, moderately inactive and never picked for teams. Since then I 've worked hard to
get physically fit. I
have first-hand experience of the dedication needed to succeed and the education
to
know how. Exercise is now a daily part
of my life but it doesn't rule it.
Exercise is just one of the many rules by which I now live my life.
What's My Diet Like?
I have to admit I have a sweet tooth...
95% of the time I eat very well; healthy, nutritional food spaced regularly throughout
my day. My diet is
pretty clean - whole foods, plenty of animal protein and good
quality fats. When it comes to eating I 'm sensible.
I steer away from sugar as much as possible, but of course I 'll indulge every now and then.
Like everyone else, I enjoy a
bit
of chocolate and I 'sometimes' give in to puddings, crisps and alcohol,
but I see these as treats, not a regular part of my
daily diet!
I'm a firm believer in the saying 'all things in moderation'. Eating, after all, is a social thing! As long as I stick to a winning formula 95% of the time, I'm happy!
